Arabic Language Department Council

 

The Arabic Language Department Council held its fifth regular meeting / Part I on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mazhar Abdul Ali, and chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Abdul Hamid, President of the Council, and in the presence of all members of the Council.

The Council Chairman opened the meeting by praising and thanking God, welcoming the Dean of the Faculty and the teaching staff of the Department, and giving a brief overview of the main topics of the meeting. He then gave the floor to the Dean of the Faculty, who opened the meeting by praising God. He then welcomed the teaching staff, congratulated them on the holy month, and praised their academic and administrative efforts, which have brought the department to the top of the Arabic language departments in the basic education colleges in Iraq.

He then moved on to the topics of the meeting and addressed the following points:

- Completion of the research plan for the year 2025: He emphasized the need for faculty members to publish a serious scientific research paper annually in accordance with university regulations and the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

- Completion of the research plan for 2026: He urged the department's teaching staff to work from now on to complete the department's research plan on time by submitting sound scientific research within the specified period.

- Research teams: His Excellency spoke at length about research teams and the need for all faculty members to participate in them, forming them in accordance with university guidelines. He indicated that the deanship will hold a scientific workshop to explain the conditions for forming these teams and the principles and methods of their work.

 

- Internationalization of the college: From the previous paragraph, he moved on to directing teachers to work hard to internationalize the department and the college in practical cooperation with international universities in organizing workshops and scientific seminars.

- Graduation research: He emphasized the need for fourth-year students to complete their graduation research on time, ensuring its soundness and striving to participate with the best of it in a scientific competition at the college level, then participating in the annual student forum at the university level.

- Program accreditation: He then moved on to explain the need to begin preparations for the department to obtain program accreditation, which the department began preparing for last year and laid the foundations for. All faculty members must work diligently and with discipline to complete this work, in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation guidelines.

- Discipline: The dean explained that all these achievements can only be realized through strict adherence to working hours and the instructions and directives issued by the university and college leadership.

- Promotions: He addressed the issue of academic promotions for the department's teaching staff and urged those who were eligible for promotion to submit their applications and complete them in accordance with the guidelines of the Promotions Committee. He also expressed the college dean's willingness to assist teaching staff in preparing the requirements for promotion.

- Student activities: He asked faculty members, especially female faculty members, to encourage students, particularly female students, to participate in academic and cultural activities such as the Quran competition and the Hadith competition, both at the college and university levels.

He concluded by thanking the department chair and faculty members and urging them to continue to carry out their assigned tasks in accordance with the instructions.
