Strengthening the role of the family in monitoring and correcting children's orientations is a crucial factor in building their personalities and ensuring their intellectual, psychological and social safety.
In light of contemporary challenges such as the negative effects of social media, intellectual deviations, or dangerous behaviors, the role of the family emerges as the first line of defense.
This role can be strengthened by building bridges of effective communication
- Open dialogue and good listening without rushing to judgment or criticism.
- Fostering trust between children and parents so that children feel comfortable discussing their thoughts and issues.
- Asking probing questions to understand children's attitudes instead of direct confrontation.
Indirect (smart) monitoring
- Intelligently monitor children's online activity without invading their privacy, such as gently engaging them on social media platforms.
- Notice sudden changes in behavior (isolation, aggression, extremes in opinions).
- Getting to know their friends and social environment without negative interference.
Positive guidance and building intellectual immunity
- Teach children critical thinking skills to analyze ideas and information before adopting them.
Provide positive alternatives (activities, readings, role models) to fill their time with what benefits them.
- Promote religious and moral values that protect them from delinquency.
Cooperate with educational institutions
- Communicate with the school or university to follow up on children's behavior in the educational environment.
- Taking advantage of awareness programs offered by community centers or mosques
- In conclusion
The family is the basic building block in shaping children's consciousness, and the stronger the relationship is based on trust and dialogue, the easier it is to correct the path.
Monitoring is not a goal in itself, but rather a means to protect children and help them grow in a balanced way.
