College of Basic Education (Haditha) holds a workshop on social stigma.
Under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr Mudhir Abed Ali, our college held on this day, Tuesday, 28/1/2025, the counselling workshop entitled "Social Stigma in the Islamic Perspective and Educational Rules for its Prevention" in the conference and seminar hall.
The seminar was moderated by Assistant Professor Abdul Hamid Hamid Jumaa, who welcomed all attendees, stressing in his speech that "the discrimination and bullying that some people face as a result of a characteristic exposes them to social isolation and psychological impact, which reflects negatively on their general life, even in the matter of reducing their opportunity to obtain employment, so facing social stigma is required from everyone." After that, Professor Dr Halim Hammad Suleiman presented his lecture in which he defined social stigma "a concept that indicates the association of a person with a moral, ethnic or linguistic characteristic such as stuttering or physical characteristics that distinguish them from others that some consider socially strange and thus subject them to bullying and accusations.
Make a set of recommendations:
1- Spreading awareness, education and explaining the psychological harm that will follow those who are subjected to this phenomenon.
2- Linking to Islamic law, based on the Almighty's saying, "O you who believe, do not ridicule some people from other people, perhaps they may be better than them.
3- Establishing scientific institutions that protect the deviant from the effects of recidivism by enacting effective laws and activating the role of the media in this regard.
In conclusion, the Brigadier General extended his thanks and gratitude to all those who contributed and participated in this blessed workshop, asking God Almighty to grant everyone success in serving our beloved Iraq.
