History Department

Vision: 

Using history to highlight the bright aspects of the history and civilisation of Iraq in successive historical periods, linking the past with the present, spreading historical culture in its various disciplines, leading to the formation of a clear historical picture that can be disseminated in various parts of society, and qualifying historical thought according to the requirements of the critical approach based on the education of the critical mind of students, which represents a cognitive leap in the field of historical studies.

Mission:

Preparing a conscious generation armed with knowledge to provide society with creative capabilities, forming a philosophical message based on scientific thinking as an effective dimension in the historical discourse with others, and updating the dimensions of the perceptions of those specialised in history according to the scientific method that tries to derive wisdom from the facts of history.

Objectives:

1. Preparing teachers and teachers with a bachelor's degree who are scientifically and pedagogically empowered.

2. Preparing an elite group of outstanding students of the Department of History to complete their postgraduate studies.

3. Training history teachers and teachers in schools on the latest developments in the field of history teaching.

4. Preparing research and studies in ancient, Islamic, modern and contemporary history in order to enhance the relevant literature.

5. Evaluating studies issued in the field of history and expressing an opinion on their content.
